Bike and Ski
Location: Braeriach
The ultimate multi discipline day and a true highland adventure! The route will involve a gentle climb on the bike carrying ski equipment, either attached to the bike on on your backpack.
The cycle will be between 1.5 and 2hours. After this the bikes will be hidden and locked and the ascent will continue on skis. A further 1.5 hour climb can be expected after which we will ski and climb several different Coires that hold late season snow. The exit from the snow will be sped up significantly by using the bikes but you can expect a long day on the hill. This is a physically and technically demanding day so please read the course prerequisites before booking.
You should also have all of your own equipment and be proficient in using it. The full kit list is here. If in doubt take a look at our Journey day instead.
We meet at 8:30am to arrange equipment and aim to be moving by 9am. We are normally back by around 6pm or 5pm early season.

PRE-REQUISITES
You would need to be a confident black run and off piste skiing who has experience dealing with all the types of snow we might come across (ice, windslab, sustruggi, neve, powder). You should have ski toured before. Some slopes may be up to 35 degrees but we will only venture onto steeper terrain in safe, grippy spring snow conditions.
You should have a very good level of fitness (over 1000metres ascent of vertical on skis). You should have a good working mountain bike and you should be able to bike for around 2-3 hours on rolling terrain, carrying your equipment. You would need to be familiar with ski touring equipment and ideally using it in Scottish conditions.
Under 18s should not attend this course. If you have had a long break from skiing please make sure you visit your local dry slope or try to get a day of uplift skiing before attending.
